Louise Arthur League

This page is provides background information for the “Louise Arthur League” events (which is more properly known as the Welsh U15 League). As of 2017, Bridgend are in the Western Division of the League)

This League comprises a series of Junior Athletics meetings each summer. There are 3 specific age groups – Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15.

Each club can enter up to six athletes per event in all three age groups and each athlete can enter three events each and also compete in the 4 x 100m relay at the end of each meeting.

The teams for these events are chosen by the BAC Team Managers. The selection process includes whether athletes are club members or not (you need to be) and regular attendance at the weekly junior training sessions. Commitment to the club and a willingness to be a real Club Member are as important as fast times long and high jumps and long throws. They are great fun days out and a great way to meet up with fellow athletes for a exciting day of competition.

Here is how the age groups work:

  • Under 11 – School Years 4 & 5
  • Under 13 – School Years 6 & 7
  • Under 15 – School Years 8 & 9

BAC compete against similar teams from Carmarthen Harriers, Swansea Harriers, Pembrokeshire Harriers, Brecon AC, Neath Harriers, Barry & Vale Harriers, Pontyclun AC, Llanelli AC. The top three teams after all matches will compete in the junior Cup final later this year along with the best teams from the East and North leagues. The 4th and 5th position go into the plate.
