A hot day for a Youth Development League (YDL) event…

A big thank you from all at the club to all those from BAC who traveled all the way to Swindon yesterday to compete as part of the South Wales composite side in the YDL Midland Division match (Lower Age Group) .

Its a long way to ask Junior athletes to travel – sometimes for participation in a single event. A hot day and the Bryn Glas Tunnels closed for maintenance all added to the fun.

Second place on the day and 2nd overall means that the team now goes on to compete in the final stages of the event back in Swindon in mid-July.

So big thumbs up to “taxi’s of Mum and Dad”, the athletes, the coaches and helpers (Nadine, Marie, Lucy, Gina etc…)  and to  Jason Quirke (@quirkejason) – the glue that binds the teams together.

Congrats to our new Level Two Coach!

Big drum roll for…….. Helen Andrews for completing her Level 2 Coaching qualification…. a huge thank you from all of us at the club.

As ever – those of you who would like to take up coaching on behalf of the club then please let yourself be known. Its a fun thing to do, gives back to the club and helps bring on the next generation of Steve Braces!

Help the club – become an T&F Official this summer

Hi there all

It is a requirement for various leagues (the Louise Arthur League being one of these) for each club to bring a cohort of Officials for each league fixture.

If you are transporting your child to the event – what better way of contributing to the clubs’ volunteering needs by dImage result for track and field long jump foul jumpoing a little officiating whilst you are there?

The more we have the less each of you have to do….

Now is a great time to build our band of happy volunteers as all Officials courses as provided by Welsh Athletics are FREE until September.

Ping the club secretary if you are interested in any way…

The course dates are as follows:

  • 22nd April – Level 1 Field Judge – Llanelli
  • 15th May – Health and Safety Course – Cardiff
  • 22nd May – Level 1 Field Judge Course – Cardiff
  • 25th May – Level 1 Track Judge Course – Cardiff
  • 28th May – Health and Safety Course and Level 1 Field Judge Course – Swansea

If we have enough volunteers then we as a club can even request an Officials course for your club here if you require new Officials of a particular discipline. We as a club will sort the venue and Welsh Athletics would provide us with a tutor, resource packs, and everything that is required to become a qualified Official free of charge.

  • Level 1 – Endurance
  • Level 1 – Track Judge
  • Level 1 – Field Judge
  • Level 1 – Timekeeper
  • Health & Safety
  • Risk Assessment

Ping the club secretary if you are interested in any way…

We already have a great set of volunteers who have taken their T&F Official Level 1 courses – so why not join Sally-Anne, Mari, Lucy and Helen (big thanks to you guys as always – from Jessica and from the club too!)

Its the start of the Track & Field season!

The mud is behind us…. Cross Country squelching a thing of the past….

26725092966_b89c30bc7b_zNow we all can look forward to the Track & Field season with the first of the “Louise Arthur League” events taking place on Saturday April 29th.

As well trailed for some time now – all athletes need to have either joined or renewed their membership to compete in events – so if you haven’t got around to this yet then go to the online membership page and sign-up! (use one of the top two options, depending on whether you are joining for the first time or renewing your last years membership).
